AppCleaner is a new alternative to CCleaner. It is an all-in-one system cleaner for your Windows-based netbook computer. Like its competitor, it allows the user to clean temporary files, history, browser cache and temp folder.

AppCleaner cleans your computer for an optimized system and better privacy. It finds obsolete data and files and removes them from your system. It removes files on your computer including temporary files, history, cookies, internet logs, registry, Windows and many more. AppCleaner frees disk space and optimizes your computer’s performance. It additionally cleans up the Registry and removes unused and old entries.

After installation and upon opening up the program, it displays a tabbed interface to the user. The Cleaner tab is again divided into four sub-tabs; Apps, Browsers, Registry and Windows. It uses the usual check box system to enable or disable cleaning of specific temporary files.

AppCleaner comes with three other utilities for managing your netbook. AppCleaner has tools to manage your installed apps, manage Windows start-up and do system restores.

The application is in beta phase but still holds a great deal of punch. Its free and is worth to look at.

With WinLockr you can lock your netbook system simply by plugging in a USB, which has to be configured with this software. This provides an extra safety for your locked system and adds an extra layer of security which bars others from accessing your system in your absence. The first time when you run the application, you will need to set up a password for locking your Windows-based netbook computer. Once you have set the password, you can now specify which lock type you want to use; USB or Password lock. If you want to use USB Lock, plug in a USB device and click on the Install on USB button. This will configure the device to act as a locking mechanism for your PC. When the USB is plugged, the mouse and keyboard will be disabled and the screen will be locked, except for the exact password combination which will unlock your system. WinLockr will even prevent Shutdown of Windows and every shutdown/restart/log off actions will also be blocked by WinLockr. The lock screen will give information of any failed unlocks or shutdown attempts. WinLockr is an excellent tool to prevent unauthorized access to your netbook. WinLockr works on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Geluid is analoog, dat wil zeggen, er zijn een oneindig aantal stappen (geluiden) tussen twee waarden (geluiden). Denk maar eens aan fluiten, niemand die het voor elkaar krijgt twee keer precies 100% identiek te fluiten – het geluid is altijd net even anders.

Hoe maken we analoog nu digitaal? Digitaal wil immers zeggen dat er tussen twee waarden wel een bekend aantal stappen zitten. Ze zitten in GSM telefoons (GSM is immers digitaal), in ISDN telefoons en ook in je PC, namelijk in de geluidskaart.

Een AD meet op bepaalde tijdstippen de huidige waarde van het analoge signaal. In de bovenstaande tekening is dat het blauwe trapje, wat de gemeten waarden van de AD weergeeft.
Zie hier, we hebben de informatie nu in digitale vorm, klaar voor gebruik op een CD of in de computer. Althans… we hadden toch alleen maar 1-en en 0-en? Dat klopt, maar met een groepje 1-en en 0-en (bits) kunnen we combineren naar een Byte of Word om een getal mee weer te geven.

Hier bij het gebruik met een CD, gebruiken we 16 bits om een waarde weer te geven, dit wil zeggen 16 posities waar een 1 of een 0 kan staan. Dit wil zeggen dat er waarden van 0 tot 65535 mogelijk zijn. 0 = 0000 0000 0000 0000 en 65535 = 1111 1111 1111 1111.

Nu gebruiken we voor CD kwaliteit minimaal een aftast frequentie van 44100 Hertz (Hz) wat wil zeggen dat we AD 44.100 keer per seconde de waarde van het analoge signaal laten meten. Dat gaat zo snel dat als we dit straks weer afspelen, niet meer kunnen horen dat we met digitale informatie te maken hebben.
